OLD HABITS DIE HARD! I AM STILL GIVING STUFF AWAY!
When I first started this blog, I mentioned in the very first paragraph, how I like to make things, just to see if I could make them. (It is in the “ABOUT KAT” page). Then I just give whatever it is I made away. Well I am doing it again!
That’s right, I am giving away one of my projects. It is going to coincide with my birthday. Yup, that will be my 59’th birthday. A friend sent me a photo she found online of this fantastic dream catcher. It was made from doilies. It was bright and sunny and just a beautiful piece. I couldn’t help it, I just had to make one.
For my birthday instead of receiving, I am giving. That’s right. I am giving away this handmade Dream Catcher. It was made from vintage doilies, lots of scrap material, buttons and a bicycle wheel.
Yes you read that correctly. I couldn’t find a hoop the right size I needed. So looking around the garage I saw a mountain bike I have not ridden in three years. Three years was fair game to dismantle and not feel guilty. Heck I am already planning a project for the seat!
I took all the spokes off it and was left with the perfect size hoop for the project. I then added the doilies and all the other bits and pieces to create this dream catcher. It is bright, colorful and whimsical.
Now to give it away! Everyone knows that there is usually a catch to a giveaway. You usually have to do something. The same holds true for this one.
- Firstly you need to be a subscriber.
- Second you need to go to my “MY SHOP” and pick out an item you like and pin it to one of your own Pinterest boards.
- Then come back here and tell me what the item was with the URL copy and pasted of the Pinterest board you pinned it to, in the comment area below.
- I put an example of this in the comment section.
I was going to use Rafflecopter to do all this but I am just bit protective of peoples email addresses and I do not know enough about these companies to have you guys entering into something I do not personally know. So I will just do it the old fashioned way and put all the names into a bucket and draw the name myself. I am not going to advertise this, it will just be the people who are subscribed here already and the ones that subscribe by June 28th. Well… I might put a photo of it over on the Hometalk site but I won’t actually say it is a giveaway. If you know someone that might like this and want to tell them to enter that is a bonus for me as I just want to try and get my name out there. So feel free to share this article on Facebook or Pin It on Pinterest, or use whatever social network you are comfortable with.
You must have pinned the item from my shop by noon on June 28’th so I can have a bit of time to go through the contestants to make sure they followed the rules.
I will announce the winner on my birthday June 29’th.
Here are some more photos of the Dream Catcher you have a chance to win!!!
I bent the tines of an old fork and added it to the top of the Dream Catcher for a more whimsical touch.
I also added 2 hand painted feathers to the bottom fringe area. One of these feathers is a Canada Goose feather I found while walking in a park one day last year. There was a mother goose sitting on a nest of eggs and all around her was a ton of feathers so I imagine she or the daddy goose was in a bit of a battle protecting the nest. I gathered up quite a few of the feathers keeping quite a distance from the nest. I did not want to be on her bad side. The other feather is probably a pigeon feather I found just 2 days ago. I am always picking up feathers on my walks.
There are many different kinds of buttons on the Dream Catcher also. That is another thing I am always collecting. I love buttons! To me they can be quite beautiful especially in this era of way too much Velcro.
I leave you with one final photo of the Dream Catcher. I had to wait all day for the sun to peek through the overcast, cloudy sky. Finally it came out, I raced outside to take a few photos before the clouds rolled back in again. I had maybe 3 minutes of shooting time. I sat in front of my computer happy as can be… till I spied her! There she is. “The Photo Bomber”! Dyna succeeded again!
GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!!!
Congratulations goes to Chantelle for winning this Dream Catcher!
