Remember a couple weeks ago when I showed you the copper coil wind chime? Well I made another one so I could do a tutorial on it. I really like working with this copper coil and it was not too difficult to make. Continue reading
TINNITUS… DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS IS?
Warning, this is not one of my regular DIY projects, but it is something I deal with every second of my living days. Well as opposed to my dead days, then we would not be having this discussion!
Picture if you will, a certain sound. That sound being a high pitched screaming air raid siren from the early 1900’s. It is a sound of war. It is a sound of air raid sirens. It is a sound that if you were a child in this era and at school you would run and hide under a desk, (it was called “Duck and Cover”) or if an adult, run to the nearest air raid shelter!
Now picture this sound inside your head… 24 hours a day for the rest of your life. Continue reading
COPPER COIL WIND CHIME PLUS A NEW BIRDFEEDER
Trolling around the endless and time consuming internet for ideas of different things to make I spied a wind chime! I fell in love with the simple lines and probable ease of making. Continue reading
DIY FAKE WASP NEST
Got Wasps?
No one wants to get stung and wasps are bloody annoying! Come spring they are out in droves building their paper nests. Then all summer long they just become the worst pests around. I really do not like to use insecticides, but I will if I see a wasp nest. Continue reading
TEA KETTLE TOTEM
Summer is flying by so fast for us Canadians. I feel like I have to do six projects a week just to feel like I accomplished something this summer! I start a project and the next thing I know it is done and I feel like I lost a whole week.
This weeks project is my Tea Kettle Totem. I acquired a beat up kettle awhile ago. It was old and banged up pretty bad. I took out the hammer and tried to bang it back into a shape that resembled what it was originally supposed to be. It didn’t even have a lid. I didn’t care. It was destined for the dump and I was there to rescue it. Continue reading
GLASS GARDEN TOTEM
I have seen quite a few of these popping up on Pinterest and other DIY sites and thought I might give one a try. I wasn’t quite sure if I would like doing them or not as they just seemed kind of boring to me. But I liked the idea of using glass in a project.
My biggest thing was if it would hold up out there in the yard during our ridiculously long, freezing, cold Canadian winters.
Over the years I have had the dismal experience of things falling apart as soon as winter sets in. I hate bringing things inside for the winters. I am kinda lazy that way. Plus I just do not have the storage area to bring all my projects inside. Continue reading
THE WOOD PROJECT
Today’s project is about a chunk of wood. It is about a piece of wood I found at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. The day I found this piece of wood I nearly fainted on the spot. I was wandering down the aisles when I spotted about 4 pieces of wood in the wood section. This section takes up a whole wall in the store. If you don’t take your time you really can miss some gems there. I spotted these in one area that I almost missed. To see them you might even walk right by them not knowing what they were. Continue reading
LICENSE PLATE DUSTPAN
Have you ever had one item you constantly lose? Well besides my keys, the damn dustpan is forever going missing! I am forever hunting that one item down. It is either outside for some strange reason. Or it is left in the shed/garage when my son decides to clean it up. Or, I have left it in the basement from one of my many projects. It has never had a designated spot, so it just gets left where it was last used. Continue reading
THE CROW PROJECT
Today’s project is a little bit morbid. No, I would have to say for some people it is extremely morbid! As a matter of fact this has to be the strangest thing I have done to date!
It all started with the crow hat I made a few years ago. I absolutely love this hat! I wish I didn’t have to wait till Halloween to wear it. If I wasn’t so worried that people would lock me away for the rest of my life, I would wear it every single day. Continue reading
DIY RHUBARB LEAF CASTING
Have you ever done a project and later you just kicked yourself that you didn’t take pictures of the whole process? Well this happens to me all the time!
I think part of me just loves doing the project whatever it happens to be and I get so caught up in it I totally forget to try and record it. The one time I really wanted to do a tutorial, I just lost it. I completely got into it and did not even think of the photos. I am here today to remedy that. But before I go any farther I need to warn you. Continue reading
